The NK Smiles Scholarship Fund was established to commemorate the memory of Norman Kelly, Jr. Each year, 2-3 Penncrest seniors committed to furthering their education are awarded partial scholarships because they exemplify the spirit of a remarkable human being - similar to that of the late Norm Kelly.
Norm was a deeply religious man and a beloved elementary school teacher in the Rose Tree Media School District who passed away in late August 2006 after a very courageous battle against cancer. He touched countless lives not only as an educator, but as a tireless cheerleader for all the good things in life. Norm also had a tremendous passion for the sport of lacrosse. He applied his great teaching talents to coaching in the Rose Tree Optimist youth lacrosse program, touching even more lives. Hence, Penncrest's annual Laxapalooza event was established to help fund the Norm Kelly Smiles Scholarship.
Indian Lane Elementary School's PTG is proud to be able to host Run The Lane 5K Run /Walk with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the NK Smiles Scholarship Fund. We are honored to be a part of helping students in the Rose Tree Media School District further their education while honoring a great man and beloved teacher.
